Real Estate Sales and Consultancy to Foreign Nationals; With the Law No. 6302, which entered into force on May 18, 2012, the principle of reciprocity, which was an obstacle to real persons who are not citizens of the Republic of Turkey acquiring real estate in our country, was abolished and the way was opened for real estate ownership by foreign real persons, provided that certain legal restrictions are met.
The most important restrictions for real estate acquisition by foreign real persons are that the real estate must not exceed 30 hectares in size, must be outside military and security zones, and the amount of foreign real estate in a district cannot exceed ten percent of the area of that district. Provided that these restrictions are met, foreign real persons can acquire as much real estate as they wish in our country.
Transactions regarding real estate acquisition and applications to the land registry office can be made in person or by power of attorney. It will be beneficial for a foreign real person to receive the necessary information and service from a consultant in order not to make mistakes in legal and financial terms.
